Prisons, Punishment and Profiteers
Main Article Content
Abstract
The logic behind the organization of the paper is to begin with prisons themselves (albeit not with a comprehensive discussion of prison conditions) and then move to a more macro level analysis of the prison system as a whole and, finally, to an assessment of the system. To begin, I discuss some of the characteristics of the present crisis. Because these characteristics are so well documented elsewhere, Iprovide only a bare outline of the state of imprisonment in the United States.
