Abstract

How can teacher education faculty members sit back and watch in theoretical detatchment the potential privatization of public schools in the United States? This is a central question in this essay, which profiles the author's preliminary transition from meek educator to a more radical stance. Social media and blogging have both been essential to this transformation as the author reflects on the responsiblity of all faculty members, teacher educators especially, to defend what is right and just within our society. In this case in particular, it is the preservation of a free and open system of public education.
