Abstract


I began this research with a straightforward research problem: The word "community" is increasingly applied to virtual environments, including online educational programs. At the same time, those environments challenge the traditional meaning of community. For this study, I used a community in which I had participated, an online graduate program called the Inter-continental Masters in Adult Learning and Global Change (ALGC).
